IDEAS

This is just a few photos to represent each emotion. The colour schemes used in them are the main point. For The happy/excited bright pink, blues&greens. Then for the Lost/scared dark black&blue tones.

Sparkles!

This lesson we just worked on anything as people still had to get there photos done! I thought as i was doing fairy it would be useful thing to learn how to create sparkles in photoshop! I found a really good website where it showed me step by step very simply. see attached: file:///Volumes/POCKET/year%209%20creative/howtodosparkles.php.html
The image attached is a (rough) example of what the background might look like including the sparkles. However i think i may of over done it with the sparkles so i will only do a few to give a more subtle look.

This is the Character Profile Sheet i Completed!

PHOTOSHOOT!

This lesson Mr Andrews Took photos of us in our various poses and emotions on a Green Screen. This was so when we edited the photo in Photoshop the body would be easy to take away from the plain background. I decided to do a fairy for my avatar! I would be in some type forest. I did a happy/excited emotion and a lost scared emotion. These two emotions would also been shown changing the colours & tones of the images.

This is the edited Selena Gomez image. This picture took me all lesson to edit. I changed the background, eyes, hair & mouth. The theme that i created in this image was relaxation. The hair was the hardest part. First i made a new layer, Cut out everything except for the hair (roughly) put a blonnde yellow colour over her hair then changed the opacity and options to make it blend in and look natural. So it kinda looks like the sun is hitting the left side of her head. I then changed the shape & colour of the eyes. This was done in the bloat tool in Liquify and i changed the colour to a slight green/blue using mask tool. I then puckered the lips a slightly so there was a more softer smile. Lastly i changed the background. I found an image of Google Image and dragged it into the photoshop document. As soon as i put it in i made it the top layer so it was over everything. I then masked it and rubbed out the body using a soft brush. It then looked like she was sitting over the water and a sunset. This finished the relax mood off!

This is the original selena gomez image.

Hermione Editted

This is Hermione edited! I have worked of the Touched up Hermione - changed the eyes and the lips. To change the eye colour i simply put a dot of colour over the eyes. Created a mask and rubbed out the edges so it was coloured just on the eye ball. I then turned down the opacity so it blended well into the eyes. i did exactly the same process for changing the colour of the lips to a more pink colour to create the effect that she is wearing lipstick. This was a quick excersize as now i am very familiar with the mask tool.

Hermoine Touched up

This is Hermione from HARRY POTTER. We took an image of her and touched her up almost like an airbrushed version. She had a few little blemishes here and there so using various photoshop tools we made Hermione look beautiful! The main tool i used was the heal tool and the clone stamp tool. They are basically the same thing except the healing tool is more automatic with blending in the colour and the clone stamp tool as to be adjusted by the flow and opacity to match in. This was used to cover up pimples and fix up the strands of hair around her forhead. Also i touched up the eyebrows as there were are a few hairs loose. Lastly to finish off i enlarged her eyes slightly using the liquify tool to enhance her beauty!
I think this type of use of Photoshop would be used in Magazine Editting alot.

Sleepy Kitten

This kitten is sleepy! The main thing i have changed is the ears and the eyes. I dropped the ears down so they were more relaxed this shows the mood the cat is in. Lastly i just made the eyes slightly smaller as they were just about to close shut. These changes were all made again through the liquify tool.

Scared Kitten

This Kitten is Stressed or worried. In the Liquify tool, I changed the features on the face so that it would give the emotion of worried. First i stretched the ears up so they were perky. This is what cats do when they are alarmed by a sound. I then scrunched the forehead in between the eyes. This shows the tension the cat has. The last thing i did was make the eyes slightly wider. This shows the concentration in the cats eyes. All these changed aspects creates the emotion of worried & stressed!

Once i had made my custom brush now i can paint with it in different ways. To view the options better i clicked window and then opened 'brushes' this gave me lots of different options and settings for my brush. To create this image i changed the main diamter of the brush. i turned up the scatter so the swirls were more far apart. i changed the hue and saturation to vary (Thats how i got the different colours) lastly i adjusted the brightness jitter so it varied everytime i clicked. finally i clicked around everywhere. creating a really different textured pattern filled with swirls!

Creating a brush

This is the Brush i created using Photoshop.
First i made sure the background was plain white and 500x500 pixels. I then drew a swirl using a black brush. Then u click edit define brush preset. It then shows up so wherever you go to click the brush is a big heart!

to make this kitten appear scared i changed the features of its face. i used mostly the liquify tool to enlarge the pupils on the eyes to seem shocked. i also enlarged the whole eye so they are wide open and staring. lastly i made the ears bigger and added dark colour in the ears to make them see deeper and bigger again. when a kitten is surprised it usually pops its ears up really high to see whats happening. this is exacltly what i have done to this kitten to make it have a surprised look!

textured face

This was one of my first photoshop excersizes. I only used the mask tool but i changed the opacity alot of the brush and the layer. This took me quite a long time cause i wasnt farmilar with all the tools.

EMOTIONS - stressed face 3

This girl looks as if she is stressed and worried. Just like all the other stressed faces she has mild frown lines and her eyes are looking down. Also again her hands are resting on her head. Overall the two main features of a stressed face is the looking down with eyes and wrinkle lines either on forehead or between eyebrows. All these factors create a face that is known to look stressed.

EMOTIONS - stressed face 2

Here, Barak Obama looks stressed. He has frown lines on his head which also shows tension and he is looking down. This shows stress because he is trying to think of ways to overcome whatever he is stressing about. He looks down and covers his face with his hand.

EMOTIONS - stressed face 1

This woman looks stressed. You can tell mainly by the wrinkle lines between her eyebrows. This shows tension in her face which means stress or anger. Also her eyes are shut so she can think.

EMOTIONS - sleepy face 3

This little girl is exhausted you can tell this because of her mouth being slightly open. Her cheeks are relaxed and her eyes are shut and resting. All these three examples vary in features of a tired or sleepy face. The eyes almost shut or shut, the mouth slightly opened or the cheeks relaxed. These factors show us the emotion of the person.

EMOTIONS - sleepy face 2

This baby is very tired looking. His hands are covering his eyes to rest them. In this picture the mouth is closed.

EMOTIONS - sleepy face 1

This is Boo from Monsters ink. She is very sleepy. Her eyes are softly open and almost closed. She has bags under her eyes and her mouth is slightly open.

EMOTIONS - surprised face 3

This little boy is very happily surprised. He‘s hands are on his face looking shocked! As well as all the other surprised faces his eyes and mouth are wide open. Therefore the two factors of the wide eyes & mouth are the key features to a surprised face.

EMOTIONS - surprised face 2

This guy is surprised but very uncertain. This is shown because one eye brow is raised higher than the other. His eyes are wide open and so is his mouth.

Here Oprah is very surprised. Her mouth is wide open and her eyes are fixed. These two features put together create a facial expression that comes across to us as SURPRISED.

his picture is another mixed animal just like the frogemu.
This is a monkey and a lion joined. Its name is a MONKLI.
first i opened a picture of a monkey and a lion in Photoshop. I kept the background of the monkey and selected around the lion head using the marquee tool. I then dragged the lion head to the monkey picture. I resized the image and made it smaller to fit on the monkey body. I then used the mask tool to rub it out neatly using the soft brush. the last step was to blend the colours of the lion face to the monkey body. Finally i got the write balance of Hue and Saturation and it matched so the main colours in the lion head were the same greys as the tail, feet and paws on the monkey! I am very happy with the result as i completed this work in a short amount of time.

this is my frogemu!!
the first thing i did to create this mixed animal was get to pictures one of a emu and one of a frog. The idea was to put the emu head onto the frog body and frogs background. I then roughly cut out the emu head using the marquee selection tool. Then i copy and pasted it to the frog image. i hit command (t) to resize the image and also fipped it and spun it to having it facing the same direction of the frog head before. i aslo made sure the opacity was down so i could slightly see the frog underneath. using the mask tool i then rubbed out the parts i did not want. at first it was not working as i had the eye of the other layer on and couldnt see the rubbed out one. i asked mr andrews and he helped me fix my problem. i used a large soft brush to use the edges of it to create a smooth edge around the air. i also used a strong brush to rub out the eyes so the frog eyes came through to the emu head. the last step was to colour the emu to make it blend in to the frog. i used the hue and saturation pannel to play around and find the perfect colour range. my frogemu was done now!! overall i had alot of fun creating this animal and it was a good simple excersize to do to get ready for our avatars!

tools i have learnt:

- photo transition (command t) to change shape of an image
- marquee tool (m) to select part of an image in rectangular form
- hand (space bar) to grab and move objects around
- lasso tool (L) to select the image manually perfectly around the edges
- hue and saturation (command u) to change the colour tones of the image
- magic wand (w) to automatically select the image perfectly
- crop tool (c) to crop or cut a pic
- paint brush (b) to edit the colours or erase colours
